SaskTel
School Concert Series
Proudly presented by SaskTel. The Saskatoon
Symphony Core Players perform concerts in schools to educate,
entertain and enlighten students about classical music. This
program aims to broaden students horizons and enrich their experience
with classical music by making it fun and accessible.
The Elements of Music program is a delightful
introduction to music for elementary students performed by
the Saskatoon Symphony Core Players. Colourful displays
and interactive examples of the basic elements of music provide
a fun and friendly atmosphere for learning in a concert setting.
Pre-Performance
Chats
We are pleased to
announce that our own Maestro Douglas Sanford will be conducting
these chats prior to each performance. In addition to
being able to provide immense insight into the evening’s
repertoire, his presence will also offer a unique opportunity
for our patrons and the kids to meet the conductor!
Pre-Concert Performances
This exciting new initiative will feature promising young musicians
in the lobby prior to each of our eight Master Series concerts. The
primary goal of this program is to cultivate the musicians of
tomorrow by providing them with the unique opportunity to perform
for a Saskatoon Symphony audience. This program will also
work to liven up the lobby environment as patrons wait for the
concert to begin. As a community orchestra, the Saskatoon
Symphony places high value on the symbiotic relationship we
have with both spawning and supporting musicians in our community.
It is part of our mandate to help established musicians develop
their abilities, and to help young musicians access concert
performances and further their musical talents.
Ticket
Donation Program
The Saskatoon Symphony is
pleased to announce a new partnership with Kids up Front, a
charitable organization that recycles unused tickets for children
and families in need.
“We provide entertainment and
educational opportunities to kids and their families through
the distribution of unused tickets, and by creating special
events that help to heal, bond and unite.”
- Kids Up Front Foundation
Last year we were fortunate to partner with Kids up Front as
part of their feasibility study for the prairies. For
the one performance that we offered tickets too, the demand
was overwhelming, and all the tickets were allocated immediately! This
is what one recipient wrote about their experience:
"Thank you so much for giving us
an opportunity to have such an amazing experience. I never
could have imagined
the emotions that would rush through my veins as the
music took over. I shall always remember."
- Recipient.
If you would like to donate your unused tickets to this wonderful
program, please contact us at 665-6414.
