Master Series 3, January 17, 2009Jane Coop is one of Canada's most prominent and distinguished artists. She has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia as recital and concerto soloist. Major orchestras around the world, including the Royal Philharmonic of London, all the principal orchestras of Canada, the Seattle and Oregon Symphonies, the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, have featured her as soloist in some forty concerti-from Mozart and Beethoven to Barber and Bartok. She has appeared as solo recitalist in many of the great halls of the world: Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Wigmore Hall, Salle Gaveau and the Great Hall of St. Petersburg in Russia, performing an extensive and varied repertoire. Next season, she will give her twelfth performance with the Toronto Symphony, under Bramwell Tovey.
As a recording artist, Ms. Coop has received international praise for her fifteen releases for the Skylark, CBC and Centaur labels. She has recorded seven concertos as well as many of the great solo masterworks of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Brahms, Debussy and Ravel, and she has made landmark chamber recordings, such as her recent cycle of Beethoven's Piano and Violin Sonatas with violinist Andrew Dawes.
Ms. Coop is Professor of Music and Head of the Keyboard Division at the University of British Columbia in the winter, and is resident artist at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Blue Hill, Maine, in the summer, where she performs with members of the Juilliard Quartet and other eminent musicians.
