Guest Artist: Thomas Yu

Canadian-born pianist, Thomas Yu, is one of the most versatile artists. After a three-year hiatus from the competition scene, Yu returned victorious by claiming first prize at the 2009 Bösendorfer International Piano Competition for Amateurs in Vienna. He also recently placed third at the International Chopin Competition for Piano Amateurs in Warsaw. His concert career had already become sought-after since winning the 17th International Competition for Outstanding Piano Amateurs, taking first prize, as well as the Press Award and Audience Award.

Singing first as a baritone & later tenor, he began formal music studies at the University of Guelph, continuing his studies at Juilliard. Returning to Canada McMillan was a prize winner in the CBC National Competition for Young Performers & won first prize in the Guelph Spring Festival's National Vocal Competition.
